ABC 7 News Anchor, Hosea Sanders interviewed NSVC about vision care for children and back to school eye concerns. It is estimated that nearly between 17- 25% of school-aged children have vision problems significant enough to impair academic performance.1 NSVC encourages parents to be conscientious about bringing their children in for regular comprehensive eye examinations. It is important for parents to know that vision screenings do not diagnose vision problems nor do they lead to their treatment, rather they only indicate that there may be a potential vision problem. Conditions such as amblyopia ("lazy eye") require early treatment, which should begin before the age of six. These are a few signs that may indicate that your child has a vision problem:
