Synergeyes Hybrid Contact Lens
North Suburban Vision Consultants is one of the first practices in the United States to prescribe a revolutionary new contact lens design – Synergeyes Hybrid Contact Lens. The lens is a combination of a soft and rigid contact lens providing the best attributes of each. The lens is comprised of a highly oxygen permeable central rigid section and a soft, hydrophilic peripheral section. The result is a lens that provides superb vision due to the rigid portion and excellent comfort and fit stability due to the soft portion.
The Infant See Program…
…is supported and funded by the American Optometric Association and provides free infant vision screenings at participating Infant See practices. NSVC is proud to be one of the leading practices involved in, and supporting the Infant See Program. If you would like to have your infant screened free of charge, simply call NSVC's main office number 847-412-0311 and request an infant screening under the "Infant See Program" with NSVC's Dr. Strako. Clinical Trials and Studies at NSVC
Our doctors at NSVC continue their tradition of being at the cutting edge of eye care by conducting clinical trials and studies associated with the latest developments in the eye care field. We currently are involved with 4 new clinical studies, two for new contact lens solutions and care systems, one relating to contact lens design and technology, and the other a pharmaceutical study. We are conducting studies on contact lens solutions and care systems. One study is evaluating the effectiveness of new soft contact lens disinfection and cleaning solution. This study is geared towards patients with specific contact lens comfort and dry eye problems. The second study in this area is evaluating a novel new lens conditioning agent that is applied directly to the lens prior to insertion. The agent has been developed to significantly extend the duration of lens comfort and wearability while on the eye. We are also beginning a study of the effects of corneal reshaping contact lenses on the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children and adolescents. The study termed the “SMART” study (stabilization of myopia through accelerated reshaping technologies) will follow the changes in nearsightedness in the subjects over a 3 year period. We will compare subjects using corneal reshaping (CRT) lenses (lenses worn while sleeping and removed when awake) to those wearing soft contact lenses. It is thought that CRT patients progress at a significantly slower rate than soft contact lens wearers. Our last current study is looking at the use of a drug to improve night vision quality for those patients who suffer from reduced night vision such as individuals with high prescriptions, mild to moderate cataracts, and many people who have had refractive eye surgery. |
